Imagine dreaming up something and watching it all come alive in front of your eyes; is there anything more surreal than living this experience? Not really.
But picture doing it from thousands of miles away – doesn’t stay all that surreal then, does it?
Well, Mahalasa and Tushar Sahu might disagree with us there. They didn’t just get their dreams turned into extremely detailed reality, but were able to do almost all of it virtually, from the United States! Let’s have a look at their amazing home-makeover journey.
What the Sahus Wanted
Mahalasa and Tushar were extremely clear about how they wanted to design their spacious 3-storeyed villa. The only challenge was that they were in the US at the time and had to embark on the design journey, virtually.
After many virtual meetings and discussions with 5 other design companies, they chose HomeLane and our designer Shikha Gupta, to help their ideas take tangible shape. 
And the entire design journey, painstakingly detailed as it had to be, happened online, without them having to step out of the comfort of their home, back in the US.
The only time an in-person consult did happen, was when they flew in and visited our Experience Center at HSR Layout, Bangalore – to pick out the materials and finishes. Now, how cool is that?
How Shikha and the Design Team Hacked the Look
The Sahus were very clear on what they wanted out of their villa – both in aesthetics, as well as functionality. They wanted a home that had a luxe appeal, with copious amounts of storage built into it seamlessly, and everything accomplished in White and Walnut!
Notepad in hand before every online conversation they had, Shikha wanted to ensure that the Sahus’ home had ample room to accommodate the unique qualities and likes of each one of its inhabitants, whether it was Tushar, Mahalasa, or their two kids. And the design team under Project Manager Bhagyaraj helped her do just that.
The spanking new villa now sports a peripheral ceiling with lights shining down on the vibrant space below, finished largely in white and walnut tones.
The entertainment unit has an acrylic finish, whereas the crockery and the bar units were given a high gloss finish – to amp up the home’s luxe appeal.
The couple had very specific finishes and colors in mind for their home and desired black kitchen cabinets in an acrylic finish. To ensure the color doesn’t get overwhelming, Shikha suggested that they break the continuity with open units in a lighter color. She also ensured the kitchen stayed high on storage with racks and cabinets customized for Sahus’ appliance and grocery requirements.
Moving on to the first floor of the house, the couple wanted a large Armadio in the master bedroom, but there was a structural challenge that a beam in the dressing area presented which Shikha decided to circumvent with profile-hinge wardrobes – fitted both in the bedroom as well as the adjoining dressing area. As you can see in the reflection below, the master bedroom has also been given a bay window to enjoy that occasional morning cuppa in!
The kids’ bedroom, also on the first floor, is designed for their two kids and has plenty of storage space to ensure things stay clutter-free. It also accommodates a large desk and some quirky shelving on the wall above it.
This floor also houses a truly divine-looking Puja space, and a laundry room, both fitted with exquisitely finished base units.
