Model Green Home Building Guidelines
While not having its own specific category, paint selection is weighted in the green building guidelines based on the levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). The intent is to reduce the amount of VOCs released to the outdoors and to reduce the formation of ground-level ozone.
Paint VOC Targets:
-
Flat Interior Latex Coatings: <100 g/L
-
Interior Oil-Based Paints: <380 g/L
-
Non-Flat Interior Latex Coatings: <150 g/L
