Gulfshore Homes specializes in the renovation of luxury homes

The original kitchen featured dark woods, an inefficient island counter, tired flooring, and an outdated extractor hood over the stove.

One of Southwest Florida’s most trusted, respected and talented home builders, Gulfshore Homes has built a solid reputation for building new homes, whether it’s one from their perfectly designed spectacular models or from a luxurious private residence.

Throughout its long history, Gulfshore Homes has also built an incredible reputation for another craft specialty – home renovation – both inside and out.

“We can transform one or more rooms, such as kitchens and bathrooms, to reflect the latest trends and system advancements, or even make structural changes to a home, including creating new outdoor living spaces. “said Steve Watt, President of Gulfshore Homes. “Whatever the renovation, Gulfshore Homes promises the same caliber of craftsmanship and uncompromising quality that embodies our newly built custom homes.”

One of the construction company’s latest renovation challenges occurred at the award-winning beach and golf club community of Miromar Lakes.

“The new owners of the home chose us to transform their outdated Mediterranean or Tuscan-style home, which was built in 2012, into a newer, more contemporary home,” said Matt Shull, construction manager of Gulfshore Homes. .

According to Shull, the majority of the work took place inside the house, with the biggest renovation taking place in the kitchen.

“The kitchen was a total tear,” Shull recalls. “The space needed to be open, so we removed three walls, enlarged the island counter so it could include seating, which it didn’t previously do, and updated its cabinets and hardware store.”

Just off the kitchen, the home’s formal dining room has been transformed into any man’s dream entertaining space – a drop-down bar.

“The original owners used the space as a TV viewing room with a large curved sectional sofa as the centerpiece,” Shull noted. “The new owners had us convert it into a bar with a semicircular island with sink and plenty of room for guests to sit. Additionally, we placed a long cabinet on the back wall, which included a handy storage space. We’ve also added two stacked shelves, one on each side of the long cabinet, for additional glass and bottle storage. »

According to Shull, a flat-screen TV has been installed on the wall, between the two stacked shelves, so those seated at or near the island counter can watch uninterrupted.

The other major change in the house was the renovation of the main bathroom in the house. In short, a brighter, brighter space has been created.

This is because the walk-in shower, which was walled in but had two arched entrances, one on each side of the shower, and an arched architectural glass window between the two entrances, was eliminated and 100% replaced by a glass wall and two glasses. doors.

The old tub, which was placed in front of the original architectural window and between the two shower entries, and sat in a wooden, tiled frame, has been removed and replaced with a modern tub.

Other changes to the master bathroom included adding electronic controls, new light fixtures, changing dark cabinets to glossy white cabinets with new hardware, as well as changing the old floor to sand-colored tile with a white patterned marble floor which was also used on the shower walls for visual consistency.

All guest baths have also been updated with lighter colored cabinetry with new hardware, as well as painted walls. The same goes for the laundry room which has been repainted and its old floor replaced.

The majority of the home’s exterior renovation took place in the outdoor living area which only included a grill. Gulfshore Homes has expanded the area to include a convenient ice maker as well as two well-placed flat screen TVs.

The whole project took about a year to design and complete. This included planning, ordering materials and meetings with clients, all of which began last February. The actual renovation work inside the house took just over five months.

“We started in July when the owners were up north and had a strict deadline to complete the renovation before they returned for the 2022 season,” Shull explained. “Thanks to our incredible pre-planning and dedicated team, all deadlines were met and the owners were extremely happy with the end result.”
