COMOX VALLEY – When Adam Thompson opened a flooring distribution point in Courtenay in 2008, this meant construction companies no longer had to take a ferry to get wholesale flooring.

“The challenge builders faced was that even though they could access wholesale supply, there was a huge disconnect between the supply chain, the design choices, and the customer,” Thompson recalls. “We started organically by supplying high-volume home builders, and demand for wholesale flooring distribution in the Comox Valley has proven to be excellent.”

The company’s growth, which resulted in four moves, each time to bigger and better premises, resulted in the opening of Showroom flooring at 870 Cliffe Avenue, a retail store/design center.

“As well as wholesale sourcing, builders wanted great service, solid advice and a showroom to ‘play’ with design ideas, so Showroom Flooring was born,” he adds. -he. “This location was a blank canvas in a great location close to the city center.”

The Thompson company has supplied and installed thousands of square feet of hardwood, tile, laminate, vinyl and carpet in single-family homes and multi-family projects, as well as numerous renovations, insurance work and new constructions.

“Over the past few years, we have partnered with many well-known flooring brands that complement our imported ranges,” he notes, adding that their team works closely with suppliers to fully understand the products. that they sell. “In addition to free in-home estimates and anytime advice for DIYers, we also offer installation services for everything we sell.”

Hydroblock is a recent addition to the product line, which Thompson says is a “why didn’t they think of it sooner” tile shower waterproofing system popular with builders and do-it-yourselfers.

“It allowed us to take a traditional shower system from the usual three days of waterproofing to just half a day,” he adds. “The installer can literally prep in the morning and install the tiles in the afternoon, with a lifetime warranty to back it up.”
Thompson says he constantly hears customers talking about the friendliness of their staff.

“All of our employees love the human side of the business, and it shows,” he observes. “We have an excellent sales team in Courtenay with decades of experience. One of our salespeople was a Red Seal Certified Tile Installer and another is a Certified Flooring Inspector. Everyone works as a team, from design and engineering to installation and shipping/receiving. »
