The Brief
With two children in the house, Mahesh and Sudha didn’t want their interiors to be too delicate. They needed their home to be child-friendly but still look glamorous and presentable to guests. With a growing family, storage has always been an issue in their previous home. Thus, from the beginning, they were clear about the fact that they didn’t want storage to be an issue in their new home.
The Beginning
The couple knew that HomeLane was the perfect choice for them at the very first meeting. At the Whitefield Experience showroom, their design expert, Keerti Bhat, took them through the entire process and discussed the many options available to them. At the same meeting, they got to see a mock-up of what their home would look like with the help of the 3D visualization tool, Spacecraft. It helped them picture what their home would look like once completed.
The Outcome
Keerti has made sure that the design incorporated all of the family’s needs at a functional and aesthetic level.
The Living Room
The living room is comfortable enough for the family to enjoy weekends in and chic enough to entertain guests. The couple chose recliners in a neutral brown color to keep with the subdued theme of the room (after all, what’s more, comfortable than recliners to kick your feet up and catch up on your favorite tv shows?). The white entertainment unit has lots of open and closed shelves where the family proudly showcase their family photos and curious that were collected over the years. The room’s design is kept minimal in tones of white from floor to ceiling. This is what makes it so bright and even makes space look bigger than it is.
The Kitchen
This family’s love for neutrals is reflected in the kitchen as well where they have chosen a natural wood tone for the cabinets. Sudha wanted a classic look for their kitchen, something that would stand the test of time. Paired with an off-white, simple backsplash and grey countertop, this kitchen is a picture of sophistication. Do note the quirky kitchen-themed decals that give this kitchen an element of fun.
The Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is a continuation of the neutral palette from the kitchen and living room. The dark wood tones contrast beautifully against the white of the rest of the room. The wall behind the bed features a beautiful brown and white print that elevates the look of the room.
Keerti has made use of clever storage solutions that ensure plenty of storage in all of the bedrooms. The window seating in the master bedroom ensures that the couple has a place a sit, read, chat, or even enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Who can so ‘no’ to additional storage especially when it comes in such a beautiful way like the storage above and below the window here.
The Guest Room
For the guest room, Mahesh and Sudha wanted to keep it simple like the rest of their home but with a little bit of color. They chose shades of lavender for this room. Royalty much?
The Kids’ Room
Considering the children’s age, the homeowners wanted the kids’ room to be vibrant and energetic like the two little ones. They chose an electric blue for the wardrobes and study units. In this room as well, Keerthi made complete use of the space by designing storage all along the walls on one side (right to the top). The parents sure are happy that they have plenty of room to stow away their kids’ many toys, sports equipment, and musical instruments in a safe place so that their floors are not cluttered with everything.
